Kelly Clarkson, who's song "Mr. Know It All" is currently a top-15 hit on USA TODAY's Top 40, headlines a 4 person star-studded cast of celebrity endorsers in the new Toyota Camry commercial. The cast is rounded off by Chris Berman, James Lipton and Andrew Zimmern. I'm usually adverse to gross amounts of Celebrity Endorsements, especially when b-listers are obviously used for filler space as part of package deals, but this is a clever spot with specific meaning behind each star.
With the touch of a button an a flash on the screen, all bring something unique to highlight the Camry's new mobile technology features that will let you:
Make restaurant reservations – Thank you Andrew Zimmern!
Get sport scores – Thank you Chris Berman!
Find movie reviews – Thank you James Lipton!
And, of course, stream favorite music – Thank you Kelly Clarkson!
Now, it's not the best, most creative spot in the world. However, the Reservoir Dogs entrance is familiar and entertaining as the audience tries to figure out what this motley crew of 4 is doing together. What's more, the spot is clear and concise and plays on each celeb's easily identifiable strength. It's good alignment that doesn't try too hard. And who doesn't like dancing in the car to a Kelly Clarkson song?
