Tom Ford may dress Daniel Craig. Naomi Watts may don Calvin Klein. But, the most dashing Celebrity Endorsement for a designer this year has to go to Brooks Brothers' relationship with Kermit the Frog!
As Brooks Brothers claims, "We've dressed U.S. Presidents, world leaders, captains of industry, Hollywood stars, rogues and gentlemen and now…[Kermit!]." The Muppets are blazing the airwaves from movie trailers to crack'n pistachios for their upcoming movie release on November 23rd.
Kermit is not the only Muppet wearing designer duds this time around. According to the Examiner, "Miss Piggy is high fashion, as befitting her role as the editor-in-chief for “Vogue” Paris. Her shoes are Christian Louboutin, made just for her little piggies (pun intended), and she wears a Zac Posen dress in the finale."
I don't remember the Muppets of yesteryear wearing these types of outfits, but it just goes to show how much brands rely on Celebrity Endorsements (of any species) for awareness in today's overly crowded landscape. For instance, Brooks Brothers is using Kermit in e-mail and web campaigns – but I doubt a full media blitz promoting the relationship will be worth the green.
