OK, well she's not turning Japanese, but Gwen Stefani is extending her "Harajuku" brand for Target to include her first kids collection, Harajuku Mini. Stefani's Harajuku Lovers Perfume and L.A.M.B upscale clothing line are hits and it's no doubt that these funky kids clothes are going to fly off the shelves when they hit stores November 13th – just in time for the holidays.
“Harajuku Mini is a dream come true,” Stefani told Women’s Wear Daily. “I’ve always wanted to do a cool children’s fashion line inspired by the super cute and playful kid’s clothing you find in Japan. The whole idea is about being creative, expressing your own individuality and having fun getting dressed.”
Stefani is now known for her fashion as much as she is known for her music career. She has totally transcended into a style ICON. This is evident in the spot above where she doesn't give us a moment of lip service, but instead looks playfully into the camera while a cloud takes her back down to earth. The cloud might just be an ode to the low prices for these clothes – offered at Target for just "$3.99-$29.99…for infants, toddlers and tweens and will include a mix of ballerina tutus, graphic tees, biker jackets and zip-up hoodies," according to CBS.
Harajuku Mini is sure to fill up spots under funky Christmas trees everywhere this holiday season. And I'd look for more fashion to come from the talented songstress turned fashion designer.
